After watching television footage of the devastating destruction of buildings in Gaza on 15 October, Anton had a dream while sleeping. A dream of a sandstone block, amidst the rubble, being hit by lightning, carving out a man’s face with a large dove dissecting the stone down the middle.
After repeated strikes, the face crumbled off, leaving the dove suspended in the air until it floated away, followed by a voice saying:
“Peace on Earth and goodwill towards all men.”
“It was very crudely carved,” says Smit, “and I realised that this was man’s version of peace.”
