“Come into my fire
Buy from me gold
Purified by fire
I am calling you
I reach out my hand
From within the furnace.”

The Longing

Come to me in my dreams, and then

By day I shall be well again!

For so the night will more than pay

The hopeless longing of the day.

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.  - Psalm 28:7

I am here, not there.

Not in future, not in past.

But at the moment,

Live me , don't define me.

Dissolve into hope.

Sailing turbulence, tide over it.

Scaling heights.....That is me.

This nubian augur

hides his ebony face

in the cathedral of

shimmering light

as evening perished

into a blue-black night

And his colourless,

eternal soul,

fearful of symmetry

smile at the

abyss of self.

In this hiatus forms

the nummulite

obliquely cutting,

solidifying the

featureless anthracite.

South Africa has an abundance of important statues focused on our history and the past, on prominent leaders of the ANC and the Afrikaner. But what we also need are striking symbols of the new South Africa and our common future.

Too much, too fast.
Breathless at a stoplight.
I HAVE NO TIME
everything/everything/today/tomorrow
Always with the rushing, barely feeling, barely knowing where I am.

Thou art my life - I the brook,

Thou the spring.

Because thine eyes are open, I can see;

Because thou art thyself, tis, therefore, I am he
