Inspiration behind the making of Colossal?

 

What inspired you to make Colossal?

In the late eighties there was a band called Colossal Youth. Just liked the name very much, so when I heard that name, and there was another band called The Young Marbled Giants and they were like alternative bands in those days.

I used to listen to alternative radio and immediately when I heard that name, I saw this guy standing like that, straight out of nowhere. He was made finished in my mind even before I touched a piece of clay.

The idea behind it is, the strong man stands in sublimation to God. That’s the idea of that man. He stands looking up, he’s strong but he’s not strong. This is the idea that I’m trying to give through the whole thing.
