Please join us for the opening of the “Spirit of Tshwane”  a solo exhibition of sculptures by Anton Smit.

View and explore Anton’s body of work which comprises 33 pieces on exhibition in & outside the Mall. 


Anton hopes to create a new experience to residents, retailers and art enthusiasts alike, to make art part of one’s daily experience.                             Providing the opportunity to learn, touch, sense and feel a creative spirit.  Hoping to be an inspiration for future artists to participate and introduce their artwork in a similar way - making Menlyn Maine the Art Hub of Tshwane!  As part of this initiative, represented by St. Lorient gallery, view sculptures and paintings by emerging and established artists throughout the mall.

Following the success of ’Retrospective’, an exhibition celebrating his 40 years of sculpture, Anton Smit has created an exciting new body of work which will be presented in Cape Town. Smit’s new work ”investigates the landscape of the soul. Having a fleeting glimpse of eternity, it leaves you breathless, weightless - falling into the remains of love. The dimness of our reflection in the mirror of the universe leaves us gasping for immortality.”

About the Sculpture Park

The Anton Smit Sculpture Park's three-hectare grounds are situated on the northern side of the Bronkhorstspruit Dam, on a plateau overlooking the water. Amongst the backdrop of natural limestone formations, manicured lawns and succulent gardens, it makes for a lovely environment to view the expansive collection of monumental sculptures and installations. It is a destination of creativity attracting tourists, art buyers and includes Imagine Café, a full service coffee shop open daily Tuesday through Sunday, 10am to 4pm. The Park expands the traditional concept of an art venue, ensuring a truly unique and inspiring experience.Only 40 minutes from Pretoria and 60 minutes from Johannesburg, but a world away.
